Girls' Night Out: A Color Analysis Party in Washington, DC

What happens when you combine a group of girlfriends, a beautiful hotel, a little wine, and a whole lot of color? An unforgettable girls' night out!

Recently, I had the pleasure of bringing Beyond the Closet Edit on the road for a private color analysis party at a hotel in Washington, DC. Instead of the usual dinner reservations or cocktails, these women decided to do something a little different—and I loved being part of it!

As a personal stylist and certified color analyst, one of my favorite things about this business is helping women discover what makes them look and feel their best. But doing it in a group setting, surrounded by girlfriends, brings an entirely different kind of energy.

There was laughter, plenty of conversation, and a lot of excitement as each woman discovered her most flattering colors.

A Different Kind of Girls' Night

We've all done the traditional girls' night out—dinner, drinks, maybe a little shopping. And while those are always fun, there's something special about an experience that's both entertaining and personal.

A color analysis party offers exactly that.

Rather than simply getting together, everyone gets to learn something new about themselves while sharing the experience with friends.

The women at this particular gathering were curious about which colors complemented their natural features, which shades might be washing them out, and whether the colors they'd been wearing for years were actually their best.

And that's where the fun began!

Discovering Your Personal Color Season

During the party, I worked with each woman individually to identify her seasonal color palette.

Using professional color drapes, we explored how different shades interacted with her natural skin tone, eyes, and hair.

One of the most interesting aspects of color analysis is seeing how dramatically a color can affect someone's appearance.

The right shade can make the complexion appear brighter, the eyes more noticeable, and the overall appearance more harmonious.

Other colors may emphasize shadows, redness, or unevenness in the skin.

And the best part? Everyone gets to watch the transformation happen in real time.

It's especially fun when a woman discovers that a color she never would have considered wearing is actually one of her most flattering shades.

Those little moments of surprise are what make color parties so enjoyable.

More Than Just Finding Your Colors

While identifying each woman's color season is the main event, the experience goes beyond deciding whether someone is a Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter.

It's about giving women a fresh perspective on their personal style.

Many of us gravitate toward the same colors year after year because they're familiar, easy, or simply what we've always worn.

But discovering your personal palette can open up an entirely new way of thinking about your wardrobe.

Knowing your best colors can help you:

  • Shop with greater confidence and intention.

  • Build a wardrobe with colors that work together.

  • Choose makeup and accessories more easily.

  • Experiment with new shades outside your comfort zone.

  • Make more informed decisions about what deserves space in your closet.

And perhaps most importantly, it can make getting dressed feel more fun.

Why Color Analysis Is Even More Fun With Friends

One thing I particularly enjoyed about this hotel color party was the group dynamic.

Each woman had her own individual analysis, but the entire group participated in the experience.

Friends offered opinions, shared reactions, and encouraged one another to try something new.

There were moments of surprise, plenty of laughter, and some interesting discoveries along the way.

Sometimes, we become so accustomed to seeing ourselves a certain way that it takes a fresh perspective to recognize something different.

Having your girlfriends there to share in that discovery makes the experience even more memorable.

And unlike a typical night out, everyone leaves with something useful they can incorporate into their everyday lives.

Bringing the Color Party to You

One of the things I love about Beyond the Closet Edit is being able to create personalized experiences outside a traditional styling appointment.

Color analysis parties are a wonderful option for:

  • Mother-daughter gatherings

  • Women's networking groups

  • Special occasions or simply an excuse to get together

Parties can be arranged in private homes, hotels, or other suitable gathering spaces.

I bring the professional color drapes, expertise, and enthusiasm. You bring your friends, your favorite refreshments, and a willingness to have a little fun!

Each participant receives an individual seasonal color analysis in a relaxed, social environment.

Style, Confidence, and a Little Fun

When I created Beyond the Closet Edit, my goal was to help women discover and express their personal style in ways that felt approachable, empowering, and enjoyable.

Experiences like this hotel color party remind me exactly why I love what I do.

Fashion and personal style don't have to be intimidating or overly complicated.

Sometimes, all it takes is a few colorful drapes, a fresh perspective, and a room full of girlfriends cheering one another on.

And who knows? You might discover that the color you've been avoiding all these years is actually your new favorite.
